TPWM Projects Update - 2013/14

Turning Point WM is heading for another busy year and to keep you up to date here is an outline of TPWM Projects Year 2.

(All opportunities and calls for submission will be posted on the TPWM website). 

New Art West Midlands launch - Birmingham Museum & Art Gallery

The annual exhibition and vital new platform for graduate artists from the universities in the West Midlands will take place again in 2014.

Artist Development

Working with our partners a multi-strand programme of opportunities for Artist Development will again be offered.  In addition TPWM will hold free monthly `Question and Answer' sessions for artists at the School of Art, BIAD so do come along. 

Wednesdays:
17 April - 5-6.30pm
22 May - 5-6.30pm
19 June - 5-6.30pm

 

Critical Debate
This year TPWM will put a call out with guidelines for proposals this month for 2 events that will involve artists across the region. 

New Writing

TPWM will continue to work with Writing West Midlands.

Plans are currently under discussion for a series of brochures on artists.

Artist Residencies

TPWM will be looking for potential partners to host new residencies with some TPWM support available towards costs.

Website and Communication
The free TPWM Artists' News and Opportunities e-bulletin will continue and we will work with our expansive network of contacts to promote good projects, artists, and new work.

TPWM is part of the Contemporary Visual Arts Network and joins with other regions to feed in to the national debate.

All our activity is based on working with others to maximise benefit to artists and to help strengthen the visual arts in the West Midlands.

TPWM Plan

TPWM is a strategic network comprising artists, galleries, museums, universities, local authorities, national agencies and businesses. TWPM exists to add value and benefit through disseminating information, sharing advice, as a vehicle for debate and as a voice for the visual arts. With its management team, the TPWM Steering Group also aims to bring more funding in to the visual arts to strengthen infrastructure, create more opportunities for artists, address gaps, and advocate for growth and change.

We have applied for funding from Arts Council England to bring  comprehensive programme of visual arts projects to the West Midlands region.
