As part of its activity strand to support the professional development of the newly established Curators’ Network WM, Art Market Project – New Art WM is offering three bursaries of £2000 each to freelance curators or artist-curators who are based in the West Midlands region.  These bursaries are designed to support WM curator/artist representation, mentoring, and continued professional development.

Aim and Eligibility: To enable a West Midlands based curator, artist-curator or visual arts project organiser with a track record of freelance practice to benefit from mentoring and/or support for research and development of visual arts activity as part of their curatorial practice.  If choosing to use the award towards mentoring, the submitted proposal needs to state the applicant’s preferred mentors.

Timescale: Successful awardees must begin their proposed professional development activity during April 2016 and complete it within six months making a contribution to a public feedback event at Ikon Gallery, Birmingham in late September 2016.

Application process: To apply for a bursary applicants should email a one page (A4) proposal of activity, timescale and rationale outlining how the activity will provide them with professional development as well as a short CV to Rachel Bradley, Head of Art Market Project, Rachel.Bradley@bcu.ac.uk by 5pm, Friday 25 March 2016.

Awardees who meet the stated criteria will be chosen on a competitive basis by a panel from submitted written applications.  Successful applicants only will be informed by Friday 1 April 2016.
