We will use this page to highlight what is going on in the visual arts scene in Shropshire. It will be a resource for artists but also a means by which TPWM can profile a place, offering links to activity in a regional, national and international context where possible.
A fantastic network that promotes and lobbies for the visual arts in Shropshire, Telford and Wrekin. They provide a network for visual artists, designers and makers, groups and galleries and people who are interested in participating in visual arts related activities in Shropshire and Telford and Wrekin through subscription membership. Their website lists artists, galleries, events and opportunities in the area.
The network has a gallery in Shrewsbury Market Hall run by volunteers.
The Arts and Heritage service is responsible for Arts, Museums, Shropshire Archives and festivals.
The Shropshire and Telford Arts Partnership is made up of representative local authority officers with responsibility for the Arts in Shropshire and Telford and Wrekin, and the Arts Council England West Midlands' Officer for Regional Partnerships. Their aim is to support and promote and maximise funding for the Arts in the region.
DASH is a practical Disability Arts development organisation, which works locally, regionally, nationally and internationally with disabled people in partnership with arts and cultural organisations to develop Disability Arts practice.
Creative Shropshire is a network of Shropshire-based creative professionals. The group aims to nurture and support the creative industry, providing publicity, networking and identifying opportunities for the members.
The Shropshire Guild of Contemporary Craft was formed in 2001 to promote, display and sell the work of designer makers working in Shropshire.
A support network for visual artists with a register of members in and around Oswestry and The Marches.
A charitable body which receives funding from Shropshire Council and Oswestry Town Council to facilitate arts in Oswestry and its surrounding area. The aims of the Association are the fostering, promotion and understanding of the arts, and the facilitation and improvement of their accessibility among people in the area.
Qube offers a space for new art work, a gallery for emerging and established artists and a link to other centres of arts learning and practice. With opportunities for artists to deliver interesting and innovative workshops through subsidised hire of the bespoke art room, they deliver new media activities and run courses in creative technologies, take on commissions and provide resources for artists and designers.
A contemporary art exhibition held in the centre of Ludlow each year. Open submissions are received from local, regional, national and international artists, selected by an expert panel of artists and arts professionals. Ludlow Open have also started to offer artist development opportunities.
